Yangblog? Street Cred? In the Same Sentence?

As you can imagine, there has been much discussion about Yangblog and "street cred". Just to clear things up, I am NOT saying I have "street cred". "Street cred" is for others to decide. Here's extra facts to help decide if Yangblog has cred or is "credless":

Maybe yes: "Straight Outta Compton" is my favorite rap album.

Maybe no: I always tell people "Straight Out Of Compton" is my favorite rap album.

Maybe yes: My first NYC basketball experience was in Spanish Harlem at an outdoor pickup game. I wore goggles and a knee brace. As I grab the rebound and race downcourt, my teammates are BEGGING me to give up the ball because I am clearly a KOREAN WITH GOGGLES AND A KNEEBRACE. I weave though the crowd and see one of my teammates out of the corner of my eye. I make a blind over-the-shoulder pass to him because I once saw Magic Johnson make the same pass. He goes in for a HUGE dunk. As we run back, I hear one player say to another, "Did an ASIAN just make that play?"

Maybe no: My last NYC basketball experience was at the Harlem YMCA in a pickup game. I am STILL wearing goggles and a kneebrace. I am also 10 years older. As I get the ball and weave towards the basket, my teammates are begging for the ball because I am clearly an OLDER KOREAN WITH GOGGLES AND A KNEEBRACE. I drive to the basket and try a finger-roll shot because I once saw Scotty Pippen make the same shot. My shot is so weak it doesn't even hit the BOTTOM OF THE NET. My teammates tell me to "go home". So I go home.

Maybe yes: I know "roughnecks" who have my back if I need anything "taken care of".

Maybe no- I don't actually KNOW them. My favorite doorman told me he had "roughneck friends" who had my back if I need anything. Now that I think of it, he just might have said this to be polite.

Maybe yes: Snoop Dog and I share the same passion.

Maybe no: Snoop Dog and I share the same passion for golf.

This should be enough to decide if Yangblog has street cred.
